Is This a Fit?

Is This Group Right for You?

You want support from others with related experiences
You are already doing, or have done, individual work on your trauma history and are ready to focus on the present and future
You can commit to participating respectfully and honoring the group's agreements

If you are currently in an acute mental health crisis, need intensive addiction or crisis stabilization services, or are court-ordered to attend treatment, a different setting will serve you better right now.

How It Works

What happens in a session

Each session has two parts. I facilitate the group as a trauma therapist with additional training in group psychotherapy.

  • Guided activity and engagement. Building your capacity for joy, presence, and discovery of your authentic self.
  • Facilitated sharing. Structured by group agreements that support safety, choice, and comfort.
Group Agreements

How the group keeps itself safe

To help create a respectful and supportive space:

There is no requirement to describe explicit details of what happened
There is no confrontation between members
There is no pressure or persuasion to disclose anything. “I pass” is always acceptable
The group does not provide wraparound crisis or emergency services and is not a crisis group
There is no requirement to conform to the group. Your pace is your own
Members may not share who else is in the group or what other members disclose, and may not socialize with other members outside sessions

I am bound by professional and legal confidentiality standards. Because confidentiality also depends on each member honoring the group agreements, I cannot guarantee another member's adherence. That is important to consider when deciding whether to join.

What to Expect

What You Might Gain

A sense of connection instead of isolation
Practice being present and expressing yourself
A stronger sense of choice and personal agency
More compassion for yourself, sometimes by first extending it to others
Space to celebrate your authentic self and increase your capacity for joy
Topics

Possible Discussion Topics

As group facilitator, I will select topics that grow out of the group's conversations rather than follow a fixed curriculum. Examples may include:

Self-identity  ·  Safety and trust  ·  Relationships, intimacy, and boundaries  ·  Managing and regulating feelings  ·  Connecting with your body  ·  Careers  ·  Higher power or sense of purpose  ·  Letting go and moving beyond trauma  ·  What brings you joy
Cost

The Cost of Trauma Work

Individual trauma treatment can be difficult to access or afford. This group is not a substitute for individual trauma therapy. It is designed to complement that work by providing support, resourcing, and opportunities to practice present-day skills alongside your individual treatment.

Group therapy is generally more affordable than individual therapy and can serve as an additional source of support for people working with an individual psychotherapist.

Full 16-Week Package

$2,600

Covers all 16 group sessions plus the initial screening and the midway individual session.

Frequently asked questions
Recovery Group
Do I have to talk about what happened to me?▲

No. There is no requirement to disclose explicit details, and “I pass” is always a complete answer.

Do I need to be in individual therapy to join?▼

Yes. Concurrent individual psychotherapy is required, and I will ask for permission to communicate with your individual therapist.

How do I join?▼

There is no online sign-up. Joining begins with a conversation to schedule a screening interview.

What if this group is not the right fit right now?▼

Sometimes individual work first makes more sense. We can discuss what setting may better fit where you are right now.

Getting Started

Getting Started

Participation begins with a conversation, not an online sign-up. Call 845-202-9774 or reach out through my contact page to ask questions and schedule a screening interview.

If you are in immediate danger or thinking about harming yourself, call or text 988 to reach the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline or go to your nearest emergency room.

For support related to sexual assault, the National Sexual Assault Hotline is available at 1-800-656-4673, and my resources page lists further options.

Curious if this feels like the right fit?

I invite you to start with a consultation. There is no pressure, just a conversation to see whether working together makes sense.
