The psychotherapist helps you to apply a cognitive framework to discover and understand inaccurate, distorted thinking about a challenging situation. 

 

The psychotherapist then guides you towards restructuring your thoughts using techniques such as testing and modifying beliefs, relating to others differently, and changing behaviors. Other techniques that might apply include:
